By now, you have probably seen these moving images posted online, but if not, allow me to introduce to you: the cinemagraph.  A concept that brings a captured moment to life with a little unexpected movement.             

           
                                        
 Original creators of the cinemagraph, Jamie Beck (blogger & photographer of From Me to You) and Kevin Burg have taken the .gif format to new heights.  I cannot wait to begin experimenting with this artistic spin on the traditional photo.

With the days of summer fleeting and a cooler breeze in the air, I am looking forward to the slow transition into autumn.  Long walks during sunset with spiced lattes in hand always make the fall one of my favourite times of the year - not to mention the amazing fashion that the season brings!  

I have been fortunate to have the summer off spending leisurely days doing all of the things I've always wished I'd had the time for.  Late (and long) breakfasts, reading at the park, organizing, painting (and sketching) as well as some upcoming photography projects that are in the works.  

'A relaxed mind is a creative mind' as my Yogi Tea so simply put it yesterday.   So for now, it's back to blogging & enjoying the abundance of inspiration online and, of course, savouring the final weeks of summer.

summer adventures

The other day, after a perfect evening of short films and dinner with friends, we stumbled upon some sidewalk salsa.  A local salsa club was holding a dance party in the middle of the street just as the night set in.  And, of course, the only thing to do in that situation is... well, dance!  It is time to spend the warm days (and nights) savouring the outdoors and seeking new adventures.  Let the summer linger for a little longer by finding some spontaneity in each day. Whether it's enjoying a bike ride (or a Vespa ride), late lunches on a garden patio, picnics by the water or simply a book with a blanket on the grass.  Let these summer days be full of cherished moments.  And always make time to dance in the streets.

Tommy Ton & Anna Dello Russo

      

Anna in her princess perfect, Brian Atwood blush pumps (with Swarovski encrusted heels).

Her infectious energy, warm spirit, her golden pomegranate and alligator necklace...what's not to love?

Mannequins styled by Anna for the exhibit in her finest fashion pieces. Headfruit was included!

The wonderful and always inspiring Jeanne Beker.

Fashion lovers pulled out all the stops from head to toe for the event. Tommy's beautiful photos of Anna were blown up on a massive scale as well as a behind-the-scenes video he shot of Anna getting dressed in her not-so-little closet.  Also on display were Olympia Le-Tan's handmade minaudieres straight from Paris.

It was a night to be remembered. Tommy and Anna's unique friendship and their inspiring collaboration has invigorated the fashion world, inviting us all to be courageous, have fun, be silly and take risks.

A few weeks ago, Tommy Ton, the innovative and talented photographer/ blogger (and fellow Canadian), hosted a perfectly chic party to launch his exhibit 'When Tommy Met Anna.'  With the divine Anna Dello Russo's presence at The Room, the city's fashion elite came out to the soiree to celebrate the fusion of their creative friendship.

RUDSAK sneak preview

           

Last week I shot backstage at RUDSAK's Fall/Winter 2011 show.  The hair & makeup, tailoring, structure all had that classic 'Easy Rider' cool.  This is a little preview ~ there will be more photos as well as a video coming soon so stay tuned (and more Comrags is coming too - I promise).

I recently had the honour of shooting Comrags Spring 2011 collection for a very lovely online magazine Heron of Style.  A day sprinkled with old Hollywood glamour in the historic Gladstone Hotel.  We had an amazing time!  I wanted to give you a sneak peek of some of the photos but there will be more coming very soon.

February can be a difficult month, especially if you are in the middle of a blistering winter.  With all the talk of Valentine's Day, it would be appropriate to indulge the idea of treating yourself to a little love and kindness. 

It is important to not only be compassionate to others, but also be compassionate to yourself.  What do you need to add a little brightness into your days?  Imagine what you would do for your very best friend or partner when they need a little pick me up.  Give yourself some quality time.  Journaling is a fantastic way to get in touch with yourself in the present moment.

Add some brilliance into your life and home with splashes of vibrant colours.  Buy fresh flowers and arrange them in your finest crystal glasses and dishes for a delightful display that will make you smile each time you pass them.  Fill your fridge and counter tops with delicious seasonal fruit and enjoy a Sunday morning mimosa with brunch.

tea and toast

Yet another blistering snow day here, where the giant flakes look so enchanting as they fall from the sky.  But that also means there is no shortage of cold air and frost.  It always looks lovely from indoors.  Curled up with some toast and tea.  Today I am finding happiness in the little things that ease the winter chill like my favourite wool socks and a perfectly frothed tea latte.
