Lauren Dukoff is a photographer who has spent the last few years following around Devendra Banhart and other musicians/artists (who are also friends of hers) photographing them during performance and play.
These photos have been compiled into a book titled "Family." I've always been drawn to the idea of our chosen family and surrounding ourselves with those who we can draw inspiration from. In Sanskrit they call it a 'kula,' your chosen family, close-knit circle and/or community.
I am a huge fan of all of these musicians and their genius creativity. I need to live in Laurel Canyon and spend some sunny days sketching, hiking and listening to 'Cripple Crow'. This book captures the artistic kula of these inspired musicians including the likes of Banhart, Joanna Newsom, Vetiver, Bat for Lashes, Feathers, Vashti Bunyan and many more.{Images from Family.
